[A8] Bose Subwoofer

Crawling in my trunk today, I found the source of the anemic sound in my 
car ('99 a8q w/Bose concert)... The speakers in the rear deck are 
nonexistant!  I know the PO had an aftermarket sub wired up, as he 
kindly left me with the hi-line level converter pre-wired with the amp 
power wiring still there, but no woofers!

A couple questions that I'm thanking in advance for the answers-

1) Can I rip the converter out, go back to stock wiring and run a pair 
of woofers in the rear deck in the factory location off the bose amp?

and

2) Is it worth it to go that route, which would save a lot of space, or 
go with a nice powered aftermarket sub like the Infinity Basslink? I've 
owned several Infinity products and have always been very happy with them.
