Da'lan used to make them. They were acquired by Curt in 2003.

I used etrailer.com to buy a Curt hitch for my '99 A4 avant. Looks
good, powder coated, decent piece. I couldn't remove the bumper to
install it, so I measured and remeasured and installed it with the
bumper in place.  Haven't towed with it yet, though.

Etrailer doesn't show anything for the D2, but the Curt site does.
$555 list seems... steep.  Google curt hitch 11173 for better prices.
