[A8] Let's talk 6 speed

I'm starting to get sick of the tip gearbox in the A8. Everything I'm reading about swaps to an 01E 6 speed are either in Europe or not very clear on what is involved. Does anybody know of a build thread or other info on a US based 6 speed swap? I need to figure out if the swap will be cheaper than fixing my 5HP24 yet again.
