hey,
the more of the exhaust you replace, the bigger the gain will be. if youre
gonna bother at all, i would probably recc doing at least the catback. for
that matter, if youre under there a highflow cat cant hurt either...
there will be a more significant gain from changing the exhaust on a turbo
car, vs an NA car [2.8]. if its a 2.8, i imagine the cooler sound and look
will be the most significant improvments with a minor boost in performance
[sounding fast does not equal fast, just ask the acura/honda/toyota kids].
ive never seen that big a gain on an na car with an exhaust system [american
v8's and vw 2litre's]. its always a minor improvement [though certainly
worth doing], until you run fancy manifolds.
the other end of the air pump [engine] can also benefit significantly from
efficiency assistance. airfilter's a no brainer, and a chip is probably a
good idea [esp if its a turbo], though the last chip-shootout article i read
in EC for the 1.8t suggested that all the chips cuse the intake charge temp
to bee too high [if memory serves right] i thin kthe author/owner was
leaving the stock chip in until other mods were made. again, just what i
recall, youll want to do research b4 screwing with the motor.
