[ba] niggling little problems

I am the owner of a 2000 Audi A6 Avant now coming up on 37,000 miles. My
wife, our two Airedale Terriers and I are totally in love with the car and
make many long trips over Ca. and the West. Planning a trip to the East
coast in a few months. Thus far, operation has been trouble free except for
an "oversensitive" engine warning light that has popped on, three times I
think, to signal loose gas cap, faulty sensor somewhere, and hoses bunched
too close to the manifold. One and one half hour trips down the coast to
Seaside (Monterey) to the dealer have been the remedy in each case. The
faulty sensor wasn't found for 3 days. None of these problems caused a
breakdown or even a detectable operational impairment, but the warnings are
ominous and may portend more serious problems in the future. So far, Audi
has picked up the tab for these little excursions to the dealer. After
another 13,000 miles, that will no longer be the case. We love this car.
Nothing else comes close to filling the bill for us. We don't want, don't
much like and can't afford a Mercedes E320 4-Matic wagon. Advise please.
