Gee, thanks for the compliment...

I am not making excuses for Audi. All I did was state the fact, agreeing
that there is a problem, and tell you what I know about the steps Audi
has taken to alleviate the problem. They haven't solved it yet, for sure.
However, I have already seen dramatic improvements.

If your wait is only 8 days, consider that a good thing. I had to wait
for over 3 weeks just a few months ago.

If I were to have some advice for you, Kevyn, is to be on the good side
of Audi. Treat the dealerships as your friend, not your enemy. Believe
it or not, they are in this business for the long haul and they value
their customers within the confines of what they could do.

I don't see why scheduling a regular maintenance ahead of time is unfeasible.
You do that for other events of your life, don't you? You watch your
odometer and know that a service visit should be forthcoming in a few weeks,
so call the dealer. Of course, you can't schedule for sudden breakdowns
that renders the car undriveable. Chances are, though, if you're in good
terms with the dealership, they would provide you with a loaner car or
partially pay for a rental (A8 and S8 owners get this automatically).
