just a note... you say you ran grounds "all the way back" to what?

grounds should be as short as possible and as close to a frame rail or
engine block as possible.... [the biggest, closest, meatiest chunk o metal
=]

you may also try upgrading the ground straps in a few places. the battery to
frame is a good one to redo with big/new wire, as are any body to frame,
body to engine, frame to engine, etc etc. grounds you come across. mine were
all pretty shot when i got it.
