The job can be done without the special tool, but it's a bit more
effort. You take the entire strut out, and take it to any local shop
with a press, and they'll press the old one out and the new one in.
The only difficult part of this procedure is separating the lower
control arm ball joint from the strut: a long enough lever with me
standing on the end of it has always worked for me.
