So I filled out Burns Stainless's race engine form and had Vince at burns run our motor on there exhaust system simulation program. It is capable of sizing a turbo and exhaust system for a motor and or sizing an exhaust system for a turbo.

According to him my 50 trim is capable of supporting a 16g 1-3/4 exhaust tubing for an I.D. of 1.625 or 41mm.

The motor however would rather have 1-5/8 tubing 16g with an I.D. of 1.5in or 24mm this is basically the stock exhaust outlet size.

At 7200 rpm max rpm the tubing length should be 24in, at 8k it should be 22in.

I asked him about stepped headers and he said that although it may not add any power I could step to the 1-3/4 at 1/3 to ½ the length of the header, this would make a better inlet size to the turbo based on the size of the collector from an 1-3/4 tube.

They also recommend going at least ½ in larger than the outlet of the turbo for the down tube.

This is all in the +450hp range.
