You're talking about an early 80s CIS coupe, right? The ECU that controls
fuel mixture really only handles the oxygen sensor loop and nothing else,
and it's an analog unit (so there is no "code" to upgrade or modify).

Opening up the exhause usually yields tangible benefits. You can
skip the K&N. It just leaves an oily mess inside your airbox.
