Say Folks,
Well, I finally got around to trying to sort out the problem I posted
about months back on my 82 Coupe.
So, I did buy the $60+ fuel pump relay and after installing that, still
no fuel pump.
I did a full trouble shoot and found that the pump ran when given 12V
direct and the car started right up.
So, it seems that the fuse/relay panel has an intermittent trace which
makes sense as the problem first started only when things were hot,
then after the car hadn't run for 30-60 seconds (and the trace could
cool back down) it would start. Then after this action (over a few
months) caused the trace to deteriorate it started to have the problem
in cooler weather.
So, I've gone and outboarded the fuel pump relay off the panel and I
guess I'm not getting the trigger signal from the ignition as the fuel
pump still does not run. So I will have to get a new feed from the
ignition system.
Any advice on where I should take that from?
I'm half inclined to just have the fuel pump run when the key is on but
checked with a mechanic friend and I guess things could get hairy in an
accident.
Thanks for any info/advice.
M./
