... sorry about the month screw up ... I really thought it was going to be
next month ... not next week!

Don't get me wrong, I *love* Laguna Seca, and of course you don't get the
full race weekend experience in two hours. The thing about the event in San
Jose is that the cars are on song literally an arm's length away. Of course
they're doing considerably less than top speed, but let me tell you, there's
something about getting thumped in the chest with an exhaust pulse from a
Panoz! I've rarely gotten that kind of rush at the track ... except when
I've been on the track ...

Given all the pedestrian traffic at lunch time in Plaza de Cesar Chavez I'm
surprised that no one has gotten hurt. Even on a short straight the cars
can and do accelerate quickly.

The things that do it for me ... one it is easily done ... no logistics on
driving down to Laguna and all that ... and two, you can't beat the price.
The other thing I've noticed is that the folks there supporting the cars are
a lot more relaxed and willing to talk and show you the cars. I got a good
tour around an R8 a couple years ago. Wasn't Audi racing the diesels here
last year? I may have missed out on the event as I don't remember seeing
them. A few years ago I got Christensen's autograph before he made it to
the "big leagues" ...

I should be there ... unless I get sucked into jury duty ...

==========
... I'll take Steve's word that it is a cool event but better than the race
itself?!?
