that truecar blog is intriguing. how does it work?
i'd totally blow $10,700 for a brand spankin' new 2010 mazda 3 - but what's the
next step? when i say locate dealer - the price is over $13k.
i assume the 2010 discounts will keep going into 2011.
thanks to all for the input - as it stands, it seems the best options are to buy
a used car under $5k - like a low-ish mile (like under 90k) B5 A4 or a new
mazda3 or thereabouts.
because from my research - throwing down 12k on a used car gets me an audi, MBZ
or bimmer with close to 100k miles. and there's idiots trying to sell 3 year old
mazda3's with 40k miles for close to 12k. i can buy one new for about $1k more!
you'd think used car prices would be down given the recession and the fact that
credit is so tight.
Regards,
Robby

Good tip on the Mazda3. New Focus looks interesting too....
My only experience with an Audi A3 was when I got to drive the STaSIS A3 for a
week so I admit I am a bit jaded, but that car (even though it wasn't a quattro)
was absolutely incredible. Having not driven a stock one, I can't say I
disagree, but the STaSIS mod'ed A3 was wonderfully fun, very comfortable, and
got amazing fuel milage.
I am much more partial to "old school" Audis too though. If I weren't recently
given an '01 allroad (a new school Audi I never would have bought, but I have to
admit that I'm starting to really like it now) the newest Audi I ever owned was
a '95 A6q.

Crazily enough, you can actually buy a brand new Mazda3 for around $10k.
Much rather get that than an Accord since it's actually fun to drive...

I know it's politically incorrect to say that sort of thing on this
list, but I find most modern Audis abysmally boring. Sure, the
interior is great, but that's about the only thing great about them. I
regularly drive a 3-series, A3 and Subaru Outback, and the A3 is by far
the worst driving experience in pretty much every way.
And this is from someone who's owned 5 Audi's from an urQ to an A4. Now
I have a Focus and an XJR - I still have two CQs in my stable, although
they don't get much use.
I might look at a 1st gen TT to replace the Focus, but it's the same
price as a Boxster of similar vintage...
Chris.
