Bryan,
I have the hitch on my own car (and have since installed a few on
customer's cars). I purchased them all through hitch-web. As for
electronics, I always use a converter, which requires a +12V (10A or 15A)
line run from the front of the vehicle. The rest of the hookup can be at the
driver's rear taillight. I tuck the trailering wiring in with the navigation
unit/tool kit when not in use.
No bumper cutting is necessary, but the finish on the hitches get poor
after a year. I might remove mine and powdercoat it (we do powdercoating and
metal fabrication at my company). In the future, if I install one, I'll
probably powdercoat it first.
Have a good drill and good drill bits- not too difficult of a job.
Solder the wires at the rear taillight, and you'll have a great solution for
towing a small trailer (I used to tow the jack and track tires behind the car
before I got a pickup and car trailer).
