There were no official recalls that I'm aware of.  I've had my 2001 S4
for 2 years now and aside from a couple of minor glitches when new
(CD changer and nav system issues, which were fixed under warranty),
it has been absolutely perfect since.

I've heard reports with turbo problems on early S4s, and some had trouble
with the radio losing its memory and such, but these have been corrected
in the later cars.

I suspect that those that have the most trouble with their S4s are also
doing lots of modifications...
