I did ??? your assertion about the insignificance of a cat-back. But, your
follow-up indicated that one should not expect major HP gains from a
catback - to which I agree.

Everything I have read on the Porsche boards have indicated that one should
expect single HP gains from a catback. Catbacks, in conjunction with chips
and less restictive intake airflow (K&N filter, etc.)should yield the most
HP gains for most cars.

The next step up for the Porsche guys is a stand-alone engine management,
free flowing exhaust system , and/or boring out the cylinders to obtain even
more HP. Most street cars stick with the chips, less restrictive air flow,
and catbacks (or a free flowing exhaust systems).
