There seems to be a little confusion about the specs on the next generation S4
(weights, horsepower, etc.). Here's what the release article said and I made
some conversions:
253kW(344hp) at 7,000 rpm
410nM(302lbs) at 3,500 rpm
Engine is 4.2 liters and has a high (11:1) compression ratio. It's nearly the
same weight at the current 2.7t engine. I'm surprised that the torque isn't
higher.
Car weighs 1,660 kg (3,660 lbs) - only about 70lbs more than our cars!!
0-62mph in 5.6 seconds (versus a published 5.9 for our cars, right?).
Transmission is 6spds with a FINAL FINAL ratio (final x 6th gear) of 3.03
which makes it actually slightly higher revving than our S4s in 6th on the
highway - I forget our numbers but I remember it was 2.9x or something. The
new S4 ratio is odd to me since it has so much torque and power it can turn a
taller gear...obviously for performance.
Fuel consumption (urban, 19.5l/100km = 5.15gal/62 miles = 12mpg!!) or (extra-urban
9.8l/100km = 2.59gal/62 miles = 24mpg).
I hope I didn't make any mistakes ;)
