I have a Garmin V with a cheapie ($2) homemade mount for the cupholder
(no spilled drinks here). It cannot even approach the coolness of an
integrated unit. The screen is B/W and is really too small to read
the map, although it does pop-up a large graphic when the next turn is
approached. It's slow to recalculate detours and it has a limited
amount of memory to store maps (useful diameter of about 2 hours
driving).

Despite all these limitations, I'm happy with it. It's inexpensive
and portable, so I can use it in both cars. If I bring my laptop, the
limited memory becomes a non-issue.
