[BiturboS4] S4 Blown Turbos - Update - Audi's Preliminary Diagnosis

All this talk about blown turbos has me wondering...  How does one identify
whether an S4 has the old style or the new improved turbos upon cursory
examination?  I heard something about using the production date as
a marker, but is that definitive? Or is there a VIN number cutoff?
My 2001 S4 has (I think, need to double check) a production date of 10/00.
VIN# is WAURD68D41A072463.  Does it have the improved turbos or not?

I am sure this has been mentioned on AudiWorld but I don't read the forums
there often.  Signal-to-noise ratio is too low and I don't like the web
format.  If there is an AudiWorld forum posting that contains good info
on this subject I would appreciate direct links.
