Hi folks,
I've just gone through a 2 month period where nearly everything that could
be replaced, has been replaced. Clutch, plates, bypass valves, ECU, wires in
the harness... Car has been in the shop over 40 days in the past 60. Now
it's back again for failed turbo's. I originally took the car in last
October to have a faulty camshaft alignment sensor that went out. I drove
off the lot and had an engine failure/check light go on. Car went back in
the shop and they later found a ground wire... Whatever. I've been averaging
about 125 miles between shop visits since December.
I've had unstable vibration in the lower center of gravity in the car at
idle, buffeting when the car is driving slow after start (during warm-up)
and a whining noise. I mentioned these every time I went in since October
and I'm now told it's my turbos. They also mentioned that at 42K miles, I
need to cool them down more effectively to reduce stress.
Is there a comprehensive post someplace that discusses S4 warm-up and
cool-down? I've heard of parts that are offered that measure temp and
shutoff the motor. These are nice, but have they proven to be stable, cost
effective and work as desired?
You all have a nice weekend.
Yours,
Erik
