I only use DOT 5 in my racing applications. I change the fluid every 6
months to flush out any moisture that might build up. I haven't seen
any moisture yet in the past 5 or 6 years, but I live in southern cali
where there is not much rain or humidity. DOT 5 works better, makes the
rubber parts last longer and it's non toxic so that's a plus. Just
don't mix it with DOT 3 or 4 and if you convert to DOT 5 you have to
first flush the system really well. the boiling point is over 500
degrees with DOT 5 so that's why I use it for racing.
