Hi Erik:
I read thru your messages on the S4 list, and now understand
the sad history concerning your car. I sure hope my experience is not the
same as yours.

I got sucked into the SUV craze, so haven't had a fun car to
drive for years. I commuted 100 miles a day in a 1987 VW GTI-16v, which was
a ball to drive, until the transaxle let go at 185,000 miles. As much as I
loved that car, it can't begin to compare with the S4. I am simply amazed
at the performance of this car.

Of course, I guess you get what you pay for. I could have
bought 3 VW GTI's for what I paid for the S4.

ps. On the 2nd day I owned the car, I was on I95 in Rhode Island doing about
75mph, when a pickup truck in front of me lost a metal garbage can cover. I
was able to make a quick evasive move to avoid the top. If I had been in my
Grand Cherokee I would have had no choice but to slam that object. What a
pleasure to have a car that responds.
