Of the 42k miles I put on my 2001 S4 6-speed, I averaged a lifetime of 19.7mpg.

Of the 42k miles over 33,000 miles were I-80 and other major interstates on
business travel. My average for city driving was 9mpg. 6th gear on the freeway
really adds a ton of extra range.

Well designed in my opinion.
