The 1st 500 miles are the worst on the car.. Think about what you do to any car you test drive. Especially if you know you are not going to buy it.

Yeah, I've heard the whole '500-mile', '1000-mile', and I've
even heard some '5000-mile' proper break-in periods.. No
fool-proof way to avoid any/all problems, but IMHO, seems
prudent to properly break-in any car slowly/gradually vs.
waiting for some "number" to pop up on the odo that was pulled
outta someone's arse(?)...and then start beating the crap out of
her..

I call it 'common sense'... others would call it 'paranoia'.. ;)
