When I read a quote (i will paraphrase) from the editor of Edmunds.com that=
'aftermkt are a waste of $$$ and that he would not purchase one', I had to=
sit up and take notice. I suspect that he was referring to warranties offe=
red by companies NOT DIRECTLY affiliated with a car mfg. Personalyy, I woul=
dn't touch a company not directly affiliated with AOA. Your other choice - =
A VISA/MC card with a LARGE amount of available credit ($15 - $25k). You al=
so have the added benefit of 'upgrading' to K04s with getting permission fr=
om some insurance company - 'cause it's on your dime. In a nutshell, there =
are NO free lunches - u end up paying in the end - in one form or another -=
that's my point when I keep making this statement with respect to aftermkt=
warranties.
good luck.
BTW - I do have a VISA card with a $25k credit limit (untapped) for FUTURE =
S4 problems/future mods (K04s ???). I also have a $35k Home Equity Line too=
. Of course, I don't have all this credit solely for my S4 - but who knows =
- better safe than sorry.

I have to agree with you now. I loved the peace of mind provided by having
an extended warranty (ignorance is bliss), but after being burned by the
failure of what was supposed to be one of the best in the business, I won't
be going that route again. Fortunately however, since I had paid for the
warranty contract with my charge card, I was able to dispute the charge and
wound up with a pro-rated refund for 6 of the 7 years in the original
warranty. Not great, but a heck of a lot better than being out $2800 like I
first thought I was. My advice for anyone else who might be considering an
extended warranty would be to pay in installments rather than all at once.
