I wouldn't assume the pan is the same. My A6 2.7 holds 7 quarts of oil and I think my 2.8 A4 was around 5. I would guess the pans are different but I could be wrong.
I wouldn't mind a heater considering how long it takes my engine to get up to temp on these cold days :/ I'll be curious to know what you find.

Subject: [BiturboS4] Engine oil pan heater
Hi all,
Does anyone here has an engine heater installed from your dealer? Either block heater or electric heating pad? Apparently Audi no longer supply these to any of its new cars as of late 2001. I got a pad type oil pan heater on my '01.5 A4 1.8t, so I assume they probably had one for the 2.8, but they said they don't have one for the S4 anymore, in fact they never did. Is the oil pan for the 2.8 the same as the 2.7t? I would assume so, in that case a heater for the 2.8 would work in my S4, that is if it existed and that I can get one. Anyone has an aftermarket engine heater in you car?
It can get pretty cold here in Calgary, and I'd prefer not to start the engine when it's -25C overnight, and I'm already running synethic oil. Any help appreciated!
