Just to follow up on the EDR discussion...

A poster on the VAG-COM list says that there is a way to read crash
data from the air bag control module, but it is apparently some sort
of proprietary knowledge and must not be publicly posted on a mailing
list.  VAG-COM or the normal Audi scan tools cannot be used to dump
that data, so some other method has to be used.
