[Biturbos4] Tire Recomendation? and possible tire for sa le.

Not to start a huge tire physics debate...

But my understanding is that a tire's contact patch is a direct relationship of the weight on that tire and the pressure in the tire.

For small changes in tire width (which is all our Audi's can really tolerate) you change the length of the contact patch proportionally as the width is fixed by the tire width and the area is fixed by the weight of the car and the tire pressure.

My only concern about running the tires at the stock pressures is that the shape this contact patch area creates for the new tire may not what the tire manufacturer expects. This could result in bad tire wear.

The manufacturers should really recommend tire pressures for specific loading weights to keep the tire inflated sufficiently to hold its designed shape.

To go back to the original question... I don't think there is a quantifiable relationship between tire size and recommended pressure. It would depend on the design of the tire in question more than it's actual size.

sale.

I just follow the recommended pressures on the sticker inside the fuel door. For the B5-A4/S4, I believe the recommended pressures are between 36-42 psi depending on load for 225/45-17 size. I usually run 40 front and 28 rear with me in it most of the time.
