Well it does suck that the dealer is not taking responsibility for this. But is really is not as bad as you might think. My suggestion to you is that you file a police report and claim the damages were at the dealers, you may want to notify the dealer of this too. This might get you some extra attention.

Second, file an insurance claim stating that the damage happened while the car was in the dealer's possession. Now your insurance will probably make a claim with the dealer's insurance and there will be some due diligence regarding negligence.

Third, try to be nice about the whole thing. In reality most dealers/mechanics have very specific disclaimers about not being responsible for damages, thefts, etc that are not specifically related to the repair of the vehicle even though it happens a lot. If they were going to offer anything, it would be because they like you. So being pissed off and demanding compensation will not really get you anywhere.

Regards

Mike

Man, I feel for you. That really sucks. Not knowing the actual
situation, my gut feel is that the real culprit is probably the tow
truck people. Having to hook and unhook your car, and tow it for
some distance, there is the highest likelihood for damage. However
if they don't admit to it I am not sure there is much you could do.

The dealer obviously wouldn't want to cover damages that they didn't
inflict if that was the case, but they should at least be nice about it.
Shame.

I am not a lawyer, so I can't offer any insight to the legal aspects
of this, but you would probably have to claim it on your own insurance
as a "hit and run" or something. You should consult with your insurance
company about this. Maybe they could go after the tow company on your
behalf.
