[Biturbos4] Nokian NRZi's and 2" rain per hour

Wow ... what a drive!! It was raining pretty hard, with near constant
lightning and standing water on the roadway. We flipped the radio over to AM
just in time to hear the emergency broadcast service (or whatever they are
calling it now) tone blaring ... this was *not* a test. Major thunderstorm
this evening, National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for a storm
that was dumping 2" of rain per hour mixed with heavy hail. The hail was the
typical Colorado foothills type ... soft and small, but plenty-full! The
NRZi's performed flawlessly. Heading west with front and rear fog lamps lit
through the worst of the storm, we stayed in the left lane and cruised up the
highway (a cautious 30-40 mph) passing a number of vehicles pulled over to ride
it out on the shoulder. The uncharacteristic silence from my lovely wife was
an omninous sign of the grim tension of the situation. We passed through quite
a bit of standing water here and there with absolutely *no* sense of control
departure and no ESP activity. Getting water off the windshield was the
biggest challenge ... that and watching out for the *other* guy.

We made it safely through it.

Later, treading through the *deep* hail layer (some places had maybe 8-10
inches piled up ... plenty enough to scrape <cringe> the bottom of the car) we
made it to her parked A4 and headed back up into the relative safety of the
mountains.

I love this car!!! And the tyres (purposely spelled with a "y" out of respect
for their country of origin) were impressive too.
