Yes, but that's more advanced driving, I don't think any novice should be doing that. I started really learning that during last year's local ACNA driving school, easy concept but hard to master it, often your left foot instinctively stomps on the brake pedal just like on the clutch pedal.
Btw, it's a very effective technique in racing, especially on turbo cars, ask Han Stuck and any other rally drivers. By leaving you right foot on the gas while you do left foot braking, you keep the turbo spooling, so as soon as you lift off the brake pedal, the car shoots forward without turbo lag.
