[Biturbos4] Synth Oil in the 2.7t

I'm about to do my first oil change since getting my '00 A6 2.7t and
have a Mann filter on the way. I went to Walmart today to shop for oil.
I had called around and they had the best prices. They have quarts of
Mobil 1 and Valvoline full synth for $4.27. They also have 5 quart jugs
for $19.95. I brought my manual and looked for the ratings mentioned in
there. For the SJ rating, the Mobil 1 was the only full synth oil that
stated that it met (or exceeded) that.
I read a post by Keman on the SF Bay list about Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec,
Redline, etc... I didn't want to spring for Redline, so went looking at
the others. None of them listed any of the VW.XXX XXX rating numbers.
Most had the ACEA A1 rating (I think I got that right). My car's manual
states that the A2 or A3 ratings are acceptable.
Hmm, I just found a web page (at Advance Auto Parts) that explains that
the SJ rating is for 2001 and older engines, the SL rating is for all
current engines. I think that means that anything with the SL rating is
fine for all engines. Mobil 1 listed SJ and SL, the others were SL...
wish I had known that earlier today.

Anyway, the car is out of warranty, so I'm not concerned about that, but
the prime concern is what is going to be best for the turbos... I've
run Mobil 1 in all my past Audi 5 cyl turbos (all 4 of them). I ended up
with the 5W-30 weight. If nobody screams "STOP!". I'll just throw the
stuff in there.... Now, to get that service indicator reset!
