Be certain that the caliper is free to move. I had an outside pad on my
old '90 200 look OK but the inside one was worn out because the caliper was
frozen and wasn't releasing.

This is normal... especially if you drove in the rain or let the car sit
outdoors and get dew on the rotors. They rust just a little bit and that
needs to get worn off... hence the scrapping noise.

No big deal.

One of my front brakes is squealing... but the pad has plenty of life. Not
sure what is causing that yet... Given today's thread I plan to drive fast
in reverse and brake hard to see if anything is stuck in there.

I've noticed that in the mornings, when I pull out of my apartment parking
spot and tap the braks, they sound scrap-ish. Have others noticed that?
I asked my dealer, and he said this was normal. I'm not sure I buy it...
