Question #1 - Is your S4 chipped? - DTC 17965 usually occurs when your car is chipped and is putting more pressure on the turbos. It also appears when boost leaks are present. Check your throttle body boot for cracks and the DVs for proper operation. Replace if necessary.

In time, u will get the "positive deviation" DTC along with 17965. Since u have these codes it appears that u have a VAG scan tool. Did u buy it legally thru Ross-Tech? If so, contact them and purchase the Bentley manual for Audi cars. The explanation to these codes is found there. The Bentley CD (thru Ross-Tech) is $70 (USD). Well worth the $$$.

Also, go to the AudiWorld website. Do a "search" on the DTC code that you are referencing here. You will find that MANY S4 owners (who post to the Bd) have experienced this DTC, including myself.

Good Luck.

Hey everybody,

Another "help me decode my codes" email...

Got an intermittent check engine light and following codes :

17535 p1127 : long term fuel trim multi bank 1
17537 p1129 : long term fuel trim multi bank 2

17965 P1557 : charge pressure control

Anyone know what these mean in English?

And on other threads that've gone by recently :

My (Audi OEM) battery died after about 3 years and it'd never
been discharged abnormally (lights left on, whatever). I drive
the car every day and one day it just wouldn't even turn over.
Jumped it to get home, next morning same thing. I thought for
sure something was shorting it, but nope. Just a dead batt.

Sumitomo HTR+ : i'm running these tires now and they're fine/good.
Not super sticky by any means, but they wear pretty well (i got
over 20k on my last set), stick ok in dry, are fairly good in snow
and don't cost an arm and a leg. I find them to be good (but not
great) at a lot of different things. A compromise tire.

Also, just installed an AutoSpeed DTS. Was wondering if i'd feel
the difference and i definitely do. Sudden acclerations or
decellerations definitely feel much more immediate and solid. That
kinda loose 'coasting' feeling while the drivetrain moves is much
improved/eliminated.

Thanks!
