I wonder if someone makes a composite or floating rotor? That could be lighter which would also be an improvement.

Dear Fellow enthusiasts:

I have a 2000 S4 that has 55,000 miles on it and the original brakes. It is
time to replace the pads and rotors. Although I'm very tempted, I am not
ready to lay down the bucks for a big brake kit from Brembo, Statsis or StopTech.
However, I would like to get a little more performance out of the stock set
up.

I'm leaning toward the EBC Greenstuff brake pads based some of the prior
posts to this site.

I'm wonder what the list would suggest for upgraded replacement rotors as
opposed to OEM stock. I do not plan on running any track events and this is a
daily driver. I run the stock Avus rims in winter and 17' BBS in the summer.
Most have suggested to stay away from drilled rotors and stay with slotted and
or dimpled. I'm wonder if anyone has experience with using Brembo, Baer,
Statsis or other rotors with stock brake set up. Also wondering if steel brake
lines are overkill or is money well spent. Can you use an S8 rotor or RS4 rotor
with our stock set up?

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated as I need to get job
done before the snows fly.

PS, I have recently experienced the annoying dashboard rattle talked about
lately on this list. Thank goodness, I thought the (replacement) windshield was
coming dislodged.

Thanks

MJM
