[Biturbos4] Continental Warranty and worn tie rods.

Aurangzeb,
Shortly after I found out my warranty company was insolvent, I had an ABS
unit go bad to the tune of about $1500. There is no guarantee that it would
have been covered had they still been in business, but I think it would
have. Even so, I'm not really sorry that I decided to go without. I've
heard stories of the hassle that many owners have to go through to get their
warranty company to agree to cover a part, phone calls back and forth, etc,
and it sounds like a real pain. Life's too short for additional
aggravations. Besides, I don't put on a lot of miles, I take excellent care
of the car, and I don't mind doing a lot of repairs myself, so it makes
statistical sense for me to go without. Granted, however, the peace of mind
was nice while it lasted. Bottom line: if you can afford to pay for repairs
without breaking the bank, it probably makes more sense to go without, but
that's just my opinion.
Good luck,
Bob

Do you have any regrets that you decided to go without? I'm at 48K on my
'01 S4, and am mulling the idea of a warranty. I take good care of the
car, and so far, there have been no major issues.
I am scared that, like one of the other posters to this thread mentioned,
my turbos could blow and then I'd have to fork out the $$$.
I looked at the extended warranty plan through AAA's Member Service
Center:
http://www.corpmsc.com
but decided the cost was too much. One benefit WAS that if you didn't use
the warranty at all during the life of the warranty, you got all your $
back.
Most recently, I've been looking at a warranty by autowarrantybroker.com,
but am yet to get their full details and commit.
I've also spent quite some time looking at audiworld.com, and have found
the following helpful links on the topic:
