First, VERY few (aging) cars rise in value...period. Most folks keep cars like a B-5 S4 because of its performance not economic value. I doubt very much that Audi will market a car like the B5-S4 in N.America again - thus - I suspect its value will rise over (a long) time.
Keman made my point in his post. He got rid of his B5-S4 and now wishes he had it back. Now, he will have to purchase an S4 on the open market that may have suffered abuse from its previous owner. If he had kept his original S4, at least, he would know its history. I got VERY lucky when I purchased my Porsche 951 - 8 yrs ago. It was a one owner car that came with service records - plus I bought it from a dealer - which potentially minimized risk - but hey - dealers have unloaded DOGS on buyers too.
With respect to your second point, I haven't read any posts on the AW B5-S4 forum of straight K04s blowing up, only hybrids.

I know exactly what you mean Keman, hence my reluctence to let my car go. Having said that dumping money into an aging car is never a wise investment, it will not raise its value. While my profession gives allows me for a decent living, common sense just dictates this isn't a good idea.... we'll see...
Anyways, here's another question, anyone know of any RS4s blowing their stock K04 turbos? Just curious.
Quincy
