Hello, Grant.
It is is indeed amusing to see how we all migrate through the same 
line-up of cars.
:)

The screws are hidden behind the small plastic frame surrounding the top 
of the steering column. You have to grab it and pull it gently towards 
yourself in a sort of a pivoting action. It is attached with the clips: 
two in the top and two on the sides at the bottom. In the A4/S4 they 
were Torx 10. In the A6/Allroad they are regular Philips.
