Unfortuantely the connector is not a standard DB-type connector.
AFAIK there is no right-angle version of the connector plug available.
Fortunately in the B5 A4/S4 sedan there is just enough room for everything
without taking drastic measures.  Check the following forum thread about
what some people had to do to make things fit on their Passats and other
VWs (see especially page 3):

The VW/Audi Phatnoise system can be had for soemthing now in the range
of $150 new, apparently VW/Audi is purging their stock of these.  A total
steal for that price!
