[Biturbos4] Service Reminder - reprogram interval

So I spent a good piece of my holiday weekend taking
care of our Audi stable. Our '03 A4 just received
cosmetic attention, while my 2001.5 S4 sedan got some
maintenance in the form of new spark plugs and engine
air filter.

I also worked on resetting my Service Interval
Reminder since I changed the oil some weeks (and
miles) ago. Using my VAG-COM, owner's manual,
Bentley, and searches on AudiWorld and Audifans I
learned quite a bit about it. My experiences:

1) The non-VAGCOM method (using the key and trip reset
button) did not yield the expected results and
therefore was not successful for me ... perhaps my
timing on switching on the ignition while depressing
the reset switch was wrong.

2) Setting Channel 2 under Instrument -> Adaptation to
a value of zero worked. But this just resets the
reminder to the factory default (10k miles?).

3) The channels mentioned in Bentley and my AW and AF
searches for reprogramming the interval to something
of my desires was not successful. The majority of
these channels were reporting ERROR by VAG-COM -
implying these channels were not used.

I'll also take this moment to complain about the
majority of the search results I found on AW -
*useless*! Most were people posting replies (somewhat
rudely - BTW) to search the archive (duh!) or simply
saying "yep, it can be done" with no more info than
that. Incredibly frustrating.

So - I'll pose the age old (apparently) question to
the wisdom of this group:

For a 2001.5 Audi S4 Sedan (M-box), is there a method
to reprogram the service reminder interval? And, if
so, what is the procedure?

Thank you in advance ....
