I'd concurr, though I might also be inclined to describe it as a bit of a howl.
Descriptions aside, the telltale characteristic is, as Mike said, a lateral-load-dependant 
change in the noise.

I believe the technical term is "grinding drone", gets
worse when loaded so left side bearings get noisier
going round right hand bends etc
