My gauge always reads low like that..I run deep into the red now cause I know I still have a few gallons left, get about 340 miles on a tank, chipped and SPIRITED driving... If I park with a little less than a quarter tank and then start the car the next day, the light/beep might go on, but then after driving a couple minutes, it will turn off..Some say it's part of the instrument cluster going bad, which mine is..How are your trip computer pixels? Also, you ever driving and see your speedo or tach "dip" a little?

 Subject: [Biturbos4] Gas gauge weirdness

Something weird happened with my S4's gas gauge yesterday. I know it

was at a quarter tank when I parked it, low fuel indicator had not

yet come on. When I started it a few hours later all of a sudden the

gauge read empty, the low fuel indicator came on, and the trip

computer reported 0 miles to empty. The gauge didn't move from empty

for a couple short trips yesterday and this morning. I started to

believe the tank might actually be almost empty.

I filled the tank today, and it only needed 13 gallons. There was

still over 3 gallons left in the tank. When the tank was full, the

gauge only read 3/4 full and the trip computer reported about 230

miles to empty.

Then, after driving less than 10 miles with the tank full, suddenly

the gas gauge reads full and the trip computer reports 360 miles to

empty.

Anyone ever seen this? If it matters, my driveway is on a bit of an

incline. I've had the car over 6 months, usually park in the garage

but have parked in the driveway many times before, first time that's

happened. It may be the first time I parked in the driveway with the

tank below 1/4. Physical problem or computer glitch (I'm leaning

toward the latter)?

Regards,

Steve
