[Biturbos4] Synthetic oil - frequency of changes

I've been using Amsoil 100% synthetic 0W-30. Change interval has been
5000 miles +/-. I don't worry about it if I don't change it at exactly
5000 miles. Looking at the Amsoil website it appears the name on this
stuff is "Signature Series". My thinking in using this is that it
appears to have the best ASTM D-4172 Four-Ball Wear test results
according to the Amsoil site. At the time I started using it there were
questions on this list about whether Mobile 1 and some other so-called
synthetics were really 100% synthetic formulations. Many felt this was
important for the turbo engine.

The duty cycle for my car is typically a lot of short trips around
Laramie, Wyoming with a lot of cold starts.

My understanding of the logic with higher viscosity oils in this car is
it may be appropriate for those who are tracking and racing more -
running the engine at or near its performance limits for periods of
time. I don't do this - just drive it fast on empty or lower traffic
volume roads occasionally, conditions permitting. Water and Oil temp
gages never go above the middle.

2001.5 B5 S4 Avant with about 65,000 miles on it - no major mechanical
problems - no oil usage or leakage
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 on stock size wheels - goes very well in the
snow - no mods, car is stock
This car is still my newest vehicle and by far the coolest driving
machine I've ever had the pleasure of owning. Cheers.
