because of their age, basically.  the older they are, the more likely they
are to fail.
therefore, if they are stock (not been replaced) and have 80k+ miles and are
8 years old, it's at least possible they could be failing.

What do stock EGTs have to do with limp mode? A burned out or defectuve EGT
could bring on limp mode - but whether they are stock or not has no bearing.
