[Biturbos4] Fun with flare fittings

I'm looking for some good BTDT advice for dealing with frozen brake
flare fittings... I went to swap out the four rubber hoses at the rear
of the S4 with some SS lines while flushing the fluid today. On the
first side I attempted, two of the three flare fittings wouldn't
budge, the third came loose without much effort. Being mindful of how
soft these things are, I applied an excess of WD40 to one, waited and
then prompted rounded it off. Game over for today, as this one was to
the hard line on the body--not really something that can be replaced
easily. And yes, I am using a flare wrench.

I'm tempted to break out the vice grips, which I'm sure will let me
open these up but will certainly trash the fittings in the process.

What "should" I be doing...??
