Don't blown turbo's blow black oil smoke and not white coolant smoke?

That was my first thought. But wouldn't I get a "check engine" light?
Also, on my way to the mechanic, I took a back road, never went over
2000
RPM, and didn't see any smoke. Even when I pushed the throttle a couple
of times. I would have suspected if the turbos had blown, there would
ALWAYS be smoke.
