[Biturbos4] 2001 S4 clutch woes

Now that the list is awake again, I have a question regarding my 01 S4 6spd.

While driving along, enjoying the satisfaction of completing the timing belt
service a few weeks back, I depressed the clutch to shift out of 3rd gear.
The gear shift felt stuck in gear and my immediate reaction was "you've got
to be kidding me". Knowing there was an issue, I drove to the nearest
parking lot to diagnose.

What I discovered is that the clutch remains partially engaged even with the
clutch pedal depressed. Starting the car in gear with the clutch pedal
depressed makes the car move forward on it's own. Clutch pedal movement and
pressure are normal, with no signs of leaks from underneath. I am unable to
shift into any gear with the motor running (not with the normal amount of
force to the shifter).

Before I remove the trans, I would like to get some additional opinions as
to what might be wrong. The car has the original clutch w/96K miles on the
ODO.

Thanks,
Wes
