[Biturbos4] Headlights and engine temps

Replaced my headlights with Phillips Crystal Vision 5K D2S HID bulbs
and they are very bright and white.
They are sold in a kit of two. If the bulbs are more than 5 years old
you will see a big difference.
Also note that the clearness of your headlight housing is
significant...if its clouded (fine scratches) get
some Acrylic polish (Novus 2). There are only a few companies in the
world that make this HID bulb,
Phillips, Osram, and I think GE. There are also a few Chinese
companies making them, and they work
fine for a few years then crap. My OEM Osram bulbs lasted 9 years.
Stick with a known name. IF the
bulb explodes it could also damage the inside of the housing which is
$900. (with ballast). I'd suggest the 5k
color temp too, 6 k is getting blue, 5 k is very pure white. Once you
get beyond 5k in color temp the bulb
lumen efficiency drops off too....meaning its not as bright.

Regarding the engine temps, mine is doing the same thing now that cold
weather is with us. I'm relplacing
the sensor first ($15. from ECS). I was told by a very good S4
rebuilder that the thermostat can be done
without timing belt removal. Thermostat ($18. from ECS). Since I've
had a number of temp sensors on
the B5 shoot crap, hoping that will fix it.
