[Biturbos4] smoke at high revs

it's both, floor it and it pulls like normal until 4.5k when the smoke starts, come off the throttle and it stops, nothing noticeable on the over run.
Smoke appears to be white, fluid levels seem normal but I’ll keep an eye on them over the next few days, I’ll pull the plugs in the morning, codes not looked at yet but no dash lights evident
The noise/roughness is very very slight and hard to describe, I probably wouldn't think anything about it if I hadn't driven it every day for the last 6 years, it's not a "bad" sound, just slightly different.
Turbo is the answer I don’t want, a small, easily replaceable and cheap valve is what I’m looking for.

is it more a function of rpm or full throttle?
Can you describe the roughness/sound better?
I have never experienced it personally, but i'm wondering about failing turbos. 200k, hgih boost, smoke.....

A bit of list wisdom needed please gents.....
Car is ’99 S4, 200k miles. Problem is lots of smoke at full throttle above about 4.5k, it’s sudden rather than gradual onset
Runs & pulls fine otherwise (but obviously staying below 4.5k), it might be paranoia but I think I’ve also got a slight roughness/unusual noise on the first start of the day but that clears after 20 secs
Any & all thoughts welcome
