[Biturbos4] Timing Belt

I had mine done at 85k back in August. Bought the kit from
Blauparts.com and spent like $450 on parts. Found an independent
Audi/Porsche/VW shop to do mine. He said 10 hrs labor where the dealer
said 17. He was $85/hr dealer was $115/hr. I also did valve cover
gaskets and cam seals which added additional labor for the cam seals. I
wrote this mechanic a check for $1,585.00 plus the cost of my parts, so
around $2000. Damn Audi. I hate that they can't design an engine with
a f...ing timing chain and put the water pump on the front of the engine
driven by the serpentine belt. But then they couldn't get money on
parts and labor at a dealer over it. This really makes me want to get
rid of this car before the next timing belt job is due. I am thinking
of a C5 Corvette or a Dodge Ram SRT-10 pickup. Both are American, and
easy to work on, and don't need stupid timing belts.

Just had this done last week on my 2000 S4 at 65k miles. Dealer here in
the
Kansas City area quoted about $2500 for the items you mentioned, but I
had
an independent shop do it for about $1400. $1800 at the dealer doesn't
sound too bad. Also ended up replacing valve cover and other gaskets
that
were leaking, serpentine belt, and thermostat.
